Words by Stan Harrington:

Wow what a weekend, from Thursday to Sunday the temp. was pleasant in the morning to mid 90's in the afternoon. Thursday evening and Friday morning we practiced and setup for the  first qualifier. By that afternoon we had qualified in last place (stripped a drive belt). Saturday we had two more rounds of qualifying , after the first round we ran a 2.516 at 53.6 MPH this advanced us to the second qualifier running 2.471 at 53.2 MPH. thus having TQ for eliminations on Sunday. We started Sunday eliminations with a win running 2.517 at 53.2 MPH. This run advanced us to a bi run in which we ran a 2.474 at 53.6 MPH, now after all the preparation we are going into the finals with lane choice running Hank Cork. Knowing Hank always cuts a good light we had to really concentrate, after the smoke had settled we had run

2.472 at 54.1 MPH setting two  National Records for ET and MPH.
